11/13/2023 0 Comments Wordpress blogsThe problem with these adverts is that for many they are very random and not always appropriate either. There is another advert placed below this, again among some widgets and while this particular advert is less disturbing to see than the child in distress, it still breaks up the sidebar with a gap before the following widget (which is a clickable site badge): If it wasn’t for the advert those images would appear right after the calendar but instead the way the advert is placed means that visitors to the blog might not even realise there’s more to see unless they scroll down. This particular advert above is so large but with so much space taken up afterwards that’s blank that I’ve had to zoom out on my browser to show you just how much of a gap follows before the next widget can be seen, which are my latest instagram pics. If these ads appeard at the end of the widgets on the blog I wouldn’t mind, but sticking these ads among the widgets makes it look like I have chosen their placement there but I haven’t: The sidebar, which I have chosen to display several widgets including a language translator, follow options, copyright information, now broken up by some pretty large ads stuck in between the widgets themselves. I actually don’t have a problem with the below banner due to the fact it can be minimized, but apart from being able to press a little ‘x’ in the corner of the top advert to tell Google that you don’t want to see this particular ad, it does nothing to shrink the size of the advert box itself.Īdverts are also appearing in other places on the blog too. Here’s an example of this which I saw on my blog a few days ago:Ĭan you even see the blog below these two adverts? It’s ridiculous how much space is taken up by the top advert below. Where there was once the title of the blog followed by blog posts on my home page, there is now a huge banner/box advert at the top of the page, which is massive when you see it in this screen shot below, coupled with another ad (or sometiemsthe same ad) in a smaller banner at the bottom of the screen which can be minimized. Rather than one ad in a blog post which I’m used to seeing on blogs including mine, there are now at least three ads on the front page of the blog, as well as on individual blog posts, and they are so large and intrusive that you can’t see any of the blog for the size of the adverts, particularly true when you first land on the home page of this blog. Recently, apparently wordpress has begun using a new ad provider which has led to a drastic increase in the amount of ads on each blog. Adverts too large and too manyĪdverts exist on many websites and as I’ve said, my wordpress blogs have always had ads on them ever since I can remember when I started blogging from 2015 onwards, and the format of the ads has never changed…until now. However, recently the amount of ads has made many blogs including mine, which previously looked quite professional, look like horrible click-bait sites. So there are many reasons why having a free blogging platform is important, and WordPress has become one of the favourite go-to blogging platforms because you can create so many different looking blogs, with different themes, and of course they all look pretty professional and are relatively easy to use to create blog posts. For others they may not have the means to pay to remove ads, even if the cost is low. For some niche bloggers, it just isn’t worth it to pay a subscription to wordpress to have a blog, while for others they may be starting out blogging and unsure if they want to commit to spending any money to get rid of ads in the future. You get some space on the WordPress servers for your blog to appear, while in return the ads wordpress places on your blog help to earn them revenue, thus helping to ‘pay’ for your free blog.Īlthough ads can be removed, for a cost, for many bloggers, having a free blog or website is important. Ads were there to help ‘pay’ for free blogs. Back in 2015 when I first started blogging (on a different blog) I noticed ads near the bottom of every blog post, this format has existed for years. Having ads on WordPress blogs is nothing new. However, recently it seems that many people’s free blogs on WordPress are suffering from a crazy amount of ads, which is affecting many people’s enjoyment of reading these blogs and could potentially be threatening the future of lots of WordPress free sites. Although there are paid plans, many choose to use WordPress for free, which has always been supported on the platform by the occassional ad shown, usually at the end of a blog post, before the comments box. Blogging has become a way of life for many and with it’s professional looking layouts and ease of use, WordPress has become a very popular platform for many to use for their blogs and websites.
